General Announcements

Ward picnic on Saturday, May 11, from 3 to 6 pm 

• What: Please join us for our ward picnic! It will be a great opportunity to enjoy some food, spend time with fellow ward members, meet new people. We are next to a playground

• Where: Parkside Square, which is at Vicente and 28th Ave. We have reserved the three round tables on the southeast side of the playground.  

• When: Saturday, May 11 from 3-6 pm

• Do I need to bring anything? Feel free to bring a side dish to share and a collapsible chair for sitting. The ward will provide a picnic-y main dish. (Please note there are no bbq pits, so we won't be able to cook anything.) 

Temple prep class begins April 21 and continues every 1st and 3rd Sunday through July 21. The meets at 11:10 am in room 10. 

Bay Area YSA Conference, May 10 and 11, for all high school seniors and young single adults ages 18-30, at the Oakland temple stake center. You must register here.

    • Dinner and message from the Oakland Temple presidency

    • Followed by special 8pm YSA-only endowment and baptism/confirmation sessions at the Oakland Temple, plus family history center support available for those not participating in temple ordinances.

  • Saturday, May 11 (registration & breakfast starting 9am, program starting 10am)

    • Opening meeting including keynote address from General Young Women President Emily Belle Freeman

    • Multiple service projects and lunch

    • Workshops on a wide variety of spiritual and other topics

    • Food trucks for dinner

    • Dance, Karaoke and other activities in the evening

Choir practice – The Ward Choir, under the direction of Brother Paul Mann, will begin rehearsals on Sunday March 3, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. upstairs in the Relief Society room. We will prepare for Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. Do you like to sing? We welcome all voices and all ages.  Please join the choir and let us sing praises to the Lord!  Please contact Paul for additional information.

Do you like playing basketball? Steve Clayton organizes Saturday morning basketball games at the church. Please contact him for more details.

Adult Sunday School now meets in 2 classes - If you last name begins with letters A-M meet in the Priesthood room (largest classroom downstairs) and last names N-Z meet in the Chinese branch RS room.

Temple Hill - The Oakland temple often hosts cultural and other worshipful events. Please click here for a list of events.

Background checks - California state law requires background checks for anyone who works with children or youth more than 32 hours a year. Details on how to do this are in an email from the stake. If you haven't received it, a member of the bishopric can forward it to you. 

Building cleaning: Our ward is responsible for building cleaning in January, February, April, May, July, August, October, and November (the Chinese branch will clean the other months). We clean on Saturday mornings at 8:45 am and finish by 9:45. Brother Cary Young has made assignments. If you haven't received an assignment, please contact Brother Young, or show up on a Saturday morning and introduce yourself to Brother Young.

Widespread use of zoom for Sacrament meeting concluded in February 2022: If you believe should maintain access to sacrament meeting via Zoom (we understand there are various valid reasons), kindly let the bishop know.
